Revitalizing Outdoor Spaces: J&J Property Pros' 2-Day Landscaping Journey

"Hey everybody, this is Jenneka from J&J Property Pros, and this year we have the privilege of being a part of the ECHO Means Business User Advisory Group 2023. We want to take you through a two-day project, a redesign for a client who moved in a year ago and wanted their place to feel like home. When we first arrived, despite the beauty of the home, the landscaping created chaos due to misplaced plants. We aimed to simplify and introduce structured or ordered chaos to transform their property.

For our design process, we prefer sketching over using 3D design programs. Though many tools are available, our clients often find comfort in hand sketches. We acknowledge that landscape architects may use different methods, but we emphasize establishing trust and expectations with our clients.

The redesign involves using native plants, extending the driveway for a grand entrance, and repositioning existing plants. Our goal is simplicity and functionality. We communicate the seasonal progression of the design to our clients, ensuring they understand the time it takes for everything to fill out.

The first step in our process is the design and thought process. Next, we discuss and set expectations with the client. The final step is execution. Throughout the video, we share insights into the ongoing project, from gathering materials at the nursery to the installation process.

Day one involves clearing existing beds, altering the pathway, and setting the foundation for the new landscape. Challenges arise, but the team overcomes them, showcasing the transformation process. The end of day one reveals a significant change, setting the stage for the final touches.

Day two focuses on securing woodland beds and planting. Despite minor setbacks, the team presses on, highlighting the collaborative effort required in landscaping. By the end of day two, the majority of the project is complete, and the team reflects on their progress.

Day three involves addressing any issues, such as washouts, and adding finishing touches. Challenges emerge, but the team handles them with professionalism and humor. The project concludes with a beautiful, ordered chaos landscape, showcasing the team's hard work and dedication.
