Hey, everybody! Don Stewart here, a UAG member with ECHO Means Business. Today,

I'm going to show you how to install a brake cable on a lawnmower, also known as a stop engine cable. I have this Honda engine on a Poulan Pro mower that we're going to replace right away.

Here are the old and new brake cables. The old one wasn't fully engaging, and the client mentioned having to turn the choke up often to stop the mower. You can tell by grabbing the lever that it wasn't releasing properly, indicating a problem with the cable.

Let me show you how to install the new cable on the mower and how to identify a good cable. A good cable should easily pull out on both ends. However, in the old cable, you can see it's seized, causing it to be non-functional.

Here's the new cable, demonstrating smooth movement on both ends, confirming its good condition. Installing it is straightforward. You need to lock it into a section, push a plastic piece through, and secure it on both ends.

Start by inserting one end of the cable into the designated section, securing it with a plastic piece. Then, connect it to the handle for engaging or disengaging to turn off the engine. It's preferable to install this side first.

Simply slide the piece into the hole, push it down, and lock it in place. The other end may require a bit more effort due to the tight fit. Slide it through and push it until it's secure.

And there you have it! A simple way to install a brake cable or engine brake on a Poulan Pro with a Honda mower engine. Thanks for watching! For more great content, visit ECHOMeansBusiness.com and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. See you next time!
