From time to time, the strings of your trimmer will get caught up in your trimmer head. In cases like this, you’ll probably need to restring your trimmer.

I’ve noticed that a lot of green industry pros struggle to put the trimmer head back on after restringing. I understand why it’s easy to mess up, so I’m excited to share a simple tip for getting it right every time.

How to attach a Speed-Feed Trimmer Head

Here’s how to start: Check out the direction in which your trimmer rotates. When you take apart the head, you’ll find that each piece rotates in opposite directions. One goes left, and the other goes right.

You’ll want to make sure that the piece that attaches back on the trimmer first is meant to rotate in the same direction as the trimmer. Then you can put the other piece on, and there you have it! Your trimmer is spinning as it should.

For today, I’m specifically talking about the ECHO SpeedFeed. Watch this video to watch how I put this tip into practice when reattaching this trimmer head!
