Hello everyone! Ma & Pa here from Dirty Deeds Works with another quick tip on making life a little easier for you and your clients.
Where we live, most of our clients do old school, pay as you go, and cash payments for service, with very few digital payments thrown in. It’s an older crowd we service.
When you have clients who pay cash, making payments of $30 or $70 is a little more complicated than having them do VS payments of $40 or $80. Most ATMs only give out multiples of $20 when withdrawing money. So when planning an estimate and planning how you would like to set up payments, make sure you think about the ease of access of cash with your clients.
Putting Ourselves in the Customer’s Shoes
Think about what kind of clients you have. Do you have clients that have the time to go to a bank to withdraw money? Going to a bank, staying in the queue to ask for cash is not something everybody do around here. Most of my clients go to the nearest ATM to get money, and most of them give cash in $20 bills.
When you think about it from that side, you realize how much easier it is to make all estimates multiples of $20. You can “upsell” the difference from the $35 estimate to $40 by saying stuff like “the edging/hedges are tossed in to add value.” Things like that don’t take much time on your part, but they see you are giving them an added value on the increase in price.
Ideas for Accessible Payments
Most estimates range from $40 to $300+ depending on what you need to do, the size of the project and the detail that is required. Personally, in our own business, we try our best not to give a quote/estimate of anything other than multiples of $20. In this day and time, the likelihood of anyone going through a drive-through at a bank for cash is rare - the ease of access of ATMs being everywhere has made life more enjoyable and easier to get the money you need right away.
